HOT PALETTE

Molten Encaustic colors and brushes on the stainless steel hot palette

What is encaustic?

WHAT IS ENCAUSTIC? Melted wax applied atop an oil painting or collage on a wood panel. Invented by the Ancient Greeks, called, "Enkaustikos". The Greeks would paint the wooden bows of their ships in pigment then coat with molten wax/encaustic to protect the pigments from the Sun and the Sea.

Some fun with friends at Duke's Waikiki Hawaii

All work and no play. . .we love to vacation with friends in Hawaii annually. . .

Donavon Frankenreiter concert with muscian Gary Jules and Rob Machado on guitar

Some fun at the Belly-Up on Cedros, Donovan Frankenreiter with Gary Jules and Rob Machado, good times. . .all work and no play makes Susan a very dull painter. Music, travel, nature and fun with friends & family are my biggest artistic influences.
